Accommodation

We recommend staying in the nearby village of Eymet during the wedding weekend. Organised transport will pick up and drop off guests there on the wedding day, making it the easiest place to be.

Taxis are very limited in the area and can be expensive, so staying local will make your weekend stress-free.

To help with planning, please click here for some highly recommended places to stay in Eymet.

Transport

The nearest airport is Bergerac - about a 25 minute drive from Eymet. Bordeaux airport is another good option - about a 90 minute drive from Eymet.

We recommend bringing or hiring a car, as transport options in the area are limited. There are several car rental companies at each airport, or we personally used the Getaround app during our trip in June. Booking in advance is strongly recommended.

You can find the details of a local recommended taxi driver here if needed.

Transport will run between Eymet and the Château on the wedding day.

Please note there is limited parking available at the Château, and all cars must be parked away from the building to avoid being in any photos.

Local Guide

We are so excited for you to join us in this beautiful region of France. The Dordogne is full of gorgeous villages, delicious food (and wine!) and beautiful countryside. And the bakeries are of course fantastic.

Activities

Canoeing on the Dordogne River:

A beautiful way to travel through the Dordogne. Pack a picnic, lots of water and suncream, and enjoy a day on the river.

Local vineyards include Chateau Du Fayolle and Chateau Thenac.

Local market days:

Monday – Miramont & Duras
Tuesday – Castillonnes & Le Bugue
Wednesday – Bergerac
Thursday – Eymet
Friday – Sigoulès
Saturday – Bergerac & Villeréal
Sunday – Issigeac & Limeuil

Places to visit

If you plan to extend your trip, there are endless gorgeous villages nearby to explore. We recommend the following: Sarlat-la-Caneda, Domme, Bergerac. Other places that come highly recommended include: Beynac-et-Cazenac, La Roque-Gageac, Rocamadour, Cap Ferret & Arachon Bay, Dune du Pilat, Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

San Sebastian, just accross the border in Spain was also a favourite of ours for a foodie weekend. If you are driving and venture to San Sebastian, there are ferry options back to the UK from Santander.

Gifts

We’re so grateful to have you celebrating with us, especially with so many of you travelling so far — your presence really is the best gift we could ask for. We genuinely do not expect anything more, but if you’d like to give a little extra, a small contribution toward our honeymoon would be wonderful.
